When I was 22, I made a bold move: I accepted a job 5,000 miles away from everything I knew. It was a leap into the unknown.

Let me tell you about the two toughest choices I had to make — each one reshaping my values and perspective in ways I never imagined.

Choice #1: Say Goodbye to Everything Familiar

Leaving behind my family, friends, and everything I was comfortable with was terrifying. Anxiety hit me hard as I faced the uncertainty of a new life on a distant continent. But the opportunity was too enticing to pass up: exploring Brazil, leading a fantastic team, and uncovering the mysteries of what lies beneath the earth. The stakes were high, but the promise of adventure was irresistible.

Choice #2: Dive into the Deep End

This wasn’t just about moving to a new country; it was about stepping into a whole new world. I had never visited Brazil before, had zero knowledge of Portuguese, and no clue about the job I was about to tackle. It was total immersion. The secret? Embracing it as an adventure. With the right mindset and a thirst for discovery, I learned Portuguese in just three months, broadened my worldview, and deepened my appreciation for diverse cultures. The experience pushed me to build confidence and adaptability in ways I had never imagined.

These tough decisions, challenging as they were, set me on a path that transformed my life. I’m incredibly grateful for the growth they sparked and the person I’ve become as a result.
